DEPARTMENT OF GEENTICS AND PLANT BREEDING
The Department of Genetics and Plant Breeding offers undergraduate students a strong education in plant genetics, breeding techniques, and modern agricultural practices.
Emphasizes a combination of theoretical knowledge and hands-on experience to equip students with the skills necessary for successful careers in agriculture, research, seed industries, and agribusiness.
Students gain a comprehensive understanding of the key principles of plant breeding, including genetic inheritance, crop improvement, and the application of biotechnology in agriculture.
Department of Genetics and Plant Breeding has one well equipped laboratory of 1650 sq.ft. area. The Department encourages students to actively participate in various practical activities that enhance their learning experience. These activities include:
Floral biology studies
Fieldwork in emasculation and crossing
Seed germination, Viability, and Vigour analysis
Through laboratory sessions, students explore cellular processes such as mitosis and meiosis.
Field visits to Research Stations, Seed Production and Processing units
Student life
The college provides comprehensive academic support, financial assistance and personalized out reach efforts in order to serve community of students, faculty & staff. In addition, by utilizing highly effective business, administrative and student information systems, the office provides advocacy for the colleges academic departments & programme.
